The work of breeders to create new varieties of fruit and vegetable crops makes it possible to obtain a variety of hybrid varieties for every taste and preference of gardeners and gardeners. Many of them are a true decoration of the garden and table. One of these hybrids is the tomato Monomakh Hat. We will talk about the description and characteristics of the vegetable further.
The main characteristics of the tomato variety monomakh hat
Tomato Hat Monomakh was bred by Russian breeders and officially registered in 2003. Domestic breeders in the process of working on the creation of a new variety pay great attention to adapting it specifically to Russian climatic conditions. Monomakh's hat is no exception, so he immediately won love and immense popularity among gardeners.
Main factors: large-fruited, high yield, excellent taste, resistance to all typical diseases.
Description of the bush
The plant is an indeterminate type, ideal for growing in greenhouses, but in the open field, provided that a bush is formed and a garter is formed, it also gives very good results. In height it reaches 1.5 m, it is better to form two stems: in addition to the main one, the stepson, which is located below the first brush, serves as the second trunk, and the rest of the stepsons must be removed.
The bushes are compact, for 1 sq. m can be planted up to 6 plants.
Medium early variety, ripening period is 90-110 days from the time the first shoots appear.
Description of the fruit
This variety is designed for lovers of very large fruits - their weight reaches 500-800 g, slightly ribbed, beautiful pink color. The tomato favorably differs in its excellent sweet taste with a slight acidity, strong aroma, sugar content. The main purpose is fresh consumption, preparation of juices, pastes, sauces due to the optimal combination of acids and sugars. The dry matter content is quite high - 4-6% per 100 g of the product.
So that the brushes do not burst under the weight of the fruits and the tomatoes grow large in size, no more than 2-3 ovaries should be left on the flower brush. The fruits keep well, but not very long.
Tomato yield
During the season, with proper tomato agricultural technology, up to 8 kg of tomato are harvested from one bush, from 1 sq. m - about 18-20 kg.
The variety can be grown in almost all regions of Russia, it is perfectly adapted to natural and climatic conditions, it even easily tolerates drought.
But nonetheless, tomato is quite thermophilic, therefore, in the southern regions, where the difference in night / day temperatures is small, gives a better yield than in the middle lane. If summers are short and nights are cold, it is best to grow in greenhouses.
Main advantages
Summarizing all of the above, we can highlight the most important advantages of the variety (and there are many of them):
- very large and tasty fruits;
- high productivity;
- resistance to changeable weather conditions, rain, drought;
- high immunity to various diseases;
- amicable ripening of tomatoes.
The only disadvantages can be considered only damage to the branches under the weight of the fruits, cracking them in the ripening stage. You should tie each brush if you want to get a rich harvest. To avoid cracking at the ripening stage, watering is minimized.
Agricultural technology of cultivation
Like any other, this hybrid is also grown in seedlings.
When planting seedlings in open ground, special attention should be paid to the composition of the soil: the tomato does not tolerate acidified soils, so you need to take care in advance about introducing dolomite flour and / or ash during the formation of beds for seedlings.
Planting seeds and caring for seedlings
The planting of seeds must be calculated taking into account the climatic zone so that at least 60 days pass before the intended planting of seedlings in open ground. More precisely, 40-45 days should pass from the appearance of the first shoots.
The process of sowing seeds for seedlings is no different from sowing other tomatoes. Seeds are soaked in a weak manganese solution for 0.5 hours... Prepare containers and soil in advance. For soil, take 1/2 part of the earth, 1/2 part of peat or rotted manure. For 1 bucket of the mixture, add 2 cups of sand and 1 cup of wood ash, mix everything well. Fill containers with soil: wooden boxes 10-12 cm high, plastic cups or containers with drainage holes.
The treated seeds are introduced into the soil to a depth of 1 - 1.5 cm, carefully moistened, the container is covered with glass or transparent film, placed in a warm, well-lit place. When the seeds hatch, the film is removed, the room temperature is lowered slightly so that the sprouts do not stretch, but the illumination should still be maximum (at least 12-14 hours).
At the stage of appearance of 2 true leaves, the seedlings are dived and pinched. After 10 days, you can make the first combined feeding.
Planting seedlings in open ground and subsequent care
In open soil or greenhouses, seedlings are planted at the age of 40-45 days, having previously hardened it outside in the daytime. Planting scheme - 50x60 cm, 1 sq. m - up to 4 plants.
Next is the usual care: moderate watering with warm water 3 times a week, timely feeding, loosening the soil and removing weeds, obligatory pinching and careful garters of bushes.
To get large fruits, you need to remove small flowers on the brushes, leaving no more than 3 (on the first brush - 2 flowers), the first double flowers are all removed. During the period of mass flowering, it is necessary to shake the plants for additional pollination and be sure to water after that.
How to get seeds for next year?
To always have good seeds and be sure of the correct variety, you can independently prepare seeds for planting next year. It is necessary to select a large mature specimen, remove seeds from all chambers, soak in water overnight, rinse well under running water. Spread out on a napkin or soft cloth to dry in a ventilated area, but not in direct sunlight.
Store in a dry place until spring.
It is not for nothing that the tomato is especially popular among gardeners - its excellent taste and unpretentiousness have made it a regular guest on the table of summer salad lovers.
