The list of tomatoes in our time is huge and in order to choose to your taste you need to familiarize yourself with many of them. From this article you can learn everything about planting and caring for the "Mongolian dwarf".
Description and characteristics of the tomato Mongolian dwarf
The plant was bred by Novosibirsk breeders and is quite popular. According to the description, its height reaches 25 cm, and the fruits themselves about 200 grams.
From one bush, according to the characteristics, the yield can reach 10 Kg... Tomatoes ripen early with a bright red color. The pulp tastes sweet - sour and very juicy. Variety cold snap resistant, does not require pinching and is planted in open ground.
The Mongolian dwarf will perfectly take root in Siberia, the southeastern part and other windy, not too rainy regions. But non-black earth and heavy soil are not the best option.
In greenhouses, the Mongolian dwarf grows worse than in open ground, since the air humidity is too high in them.
Advantages and disadvantages
Pros:
- Early maturation;
- Does not need pinning;
- High yield;
- Low bushes, no garter required;
- The variety is resistant to droughts and winds;
- Bears fruit for a long time (until November);
- Low probability of late blight.
Minuses:
It is difficult to talk about the shortcomings, since there are practically none. The only thing that can cause difficulties is the acquisition of the seeds themselves, so they are not sold in stores, and buying from hands does not give any guarantee. And of course, the plant does not take root well in acidic soils.
Sowing seeds
The best time for such manipulation is February and March... This choice of period will allow you to enjoy the first fruits in June. The same and even bushes can be obtained by selecting the same seeds. You should not give preference to the smallest ones, since they are unlikely to make a good seedling.
To treat seeds from various pathogens, it is advisable to process in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate at intervals of 30 minutes... After that, the seeds must be washed and dried.
For planting seedlings, you can purchase ready-made soil in the store or fertilize the soil yourself. Nutrient substrates contribute to the best crop quality.
Sowing order:
- The prepared soil must be leveled and moistened;
- Spacing between rows about 5 centimeters;
- The depth of the groove is 1 centimeter;
- The distance between the seeds is more than 1 centimeter;
- Optimum temperature for growing seedlings 25 degrees;
- Before the first sprouts appear, the container is best covered with foil;
- If the seedlings have 3 leaves, they should be planted in separate boxes.
Outdoor transplant
In early June, when the frosts have passed, you can start transplanting.
- Seating stepsons is best 0.9 centimeters apart, since the bushes require a lot of space;
- The wells are fertilized with humus and superphosphate (10 g per well);
- Further, mandatory watering of the soil is performed;
- It is best to plant seedlings at an angle, burying not only the root, but also a small part of the stem;
- Re-watering;
It is recommended to plant seedlings in the same place.
Variety care after transplanting
The next moistening of the soil will be needed only after the upper part of it has dried, because excessive moisture can harm... It is imperative to loosen the ground at the same time, to prevent the formation of a crust.
Passynching is not carried out, but fertilization never hurts. They can begin to be carried out 3 weeks after planting the seedlings.
The Mongolian dwarf will take a solution of wood ash with particular joy. It is prepared in a ratio of 200 grams per 10 liters of water. A garter of bushes is also not needed, since the plant itself is short.
Mongolian dwarf fruits fit for both simple consumption and canning.
Diseases and prevention
As mentioned earlier, this variety is practically not susceptible to late blight (a fungus that appears due to a lack of copper in the soil). But there is still a small probability.
To fight fungus, the most effective remedy is Bordeaux liquid... Spraying of plants is carried out immediately before flowering and two weeks before harvest (under conditions that the solution is 1%). When you see the first signs, take action immediately.
Another famous method of combating late blight can be called copper wire method... It consists in attaching five centimeter pieces of copper wire near the stem of the bush.
Folk remedies:
- Garlic solution... Preparation: Mix 200 grams of chopped garlic with 1 liter of water at room temperature. After a 12-hour hold, it is necessary to drain the old water and add new one along with 40 grams of soap gruel.
- 1 liter kefir mix with a bucket of water and spray the plant.
For prevention, it is enough to periodically fertilize the soil.
