Raspberry "Atlant" and "Apricot" are remontant varieties. These varieties have been tested by Russian gardeners and have become popular thanks to their large berries, unpretentious care, and disease resistance. They also have a number of advantages over conventional varieties.
A gardener's dream - no, just raspberries "Atlant" bred by the breeders of the Kokinsky stronghold, author V.I. Kazakov.
Description of the raspberry variety "Atlant"
Let's start with a description of the raspberry variety. "Atlant" belongs to the remontant and bred by the breeders of the Kokino strong point. The author of this variety is V.I. Kazakov.
Medium early grade.
Cultivation is also possible in Siberia, but unlike warm regions, the aboveground part is cut out not in autumn, but in spring. Cutting off the stems provokes the formation of a rosette with buds and, if pruning is done in autumn, the raspberries will freeze.
The bush has a height of up to 1.5 m. Semi-spreading, medium-sized bush, which makes it easy to care for. This variety is grown in temperate climates and is widespread in central Russia. Since the aboveground part is cut off in winter, it is not threatened by freezing.
Forms 5-6 strong replacement shoots, on which 50% of the length is occupied by the fertile zone. They are green with a waxy coating. There is a slight prickling, which is mainly in the lower part of the stem. The leaves are dark green in color with a characteristic wrinkled shape.
The berries of this variety are large and have an excellent sweet and sour taste. The shape is elongated, conical with a bright scarlet color. Ripen in mid-August. The average weight is 5 grams, but with sufficient care you can get berries weighing up to 11 grams. Delivers transportation over a long distance, thanks to its dense consistency. The pulp is tender and juicy with small seeds. Consumed fresh, suitable for jam and compotes, as well as for freezing.
Advantages and disadvantages
The Atlant raspberry variety has a number of advantages:
- Frost resistant.
- Resistant to diseases and pests.
- Easily tolerate drought, unlike ordinary varieties.
- Small overgrowth, which reduces the time for its removal.
- High productivity. FROM an area of 1 hectare can be harvested up to 17 tons or from one bush at least 2.5 kg of berries.
- Early and stable ripening, due to this it ripens up to 90% before frost.
- The fruit is easily separated.
- Excellent presentation and taste.
- Delivers transportation over long distances.
- Ripe fruits are not affected by rot and do not crumble for a long time.
- Universal use.
The only drawback of the variety is that a garter is required so that the stems weighed down with fruits do not lie on the ground.
Diseases and pests
Despite the resistance of the Atlant remontant raspberry to diseases and pests, it is nevertheless required to carry out some preventive work to prevent them.
- To protect the plant from stem flies, it is required to spray with Actellik... The solution is made as follows: add 15 ml of the drug to a bucket of water and mix thoroughly.
- In early spring, to prevent purple spotting, you should spray "Rubigan". To make a solution, you need to dilute 4 ml of the drug in 10 liters of water.
- Use ammonium sulfate to prevent fungal infections. The solution is prepared according to the following standards: 4 grams of the drug is taken for 1 liter of water.
- Before bud break, spraying with a 3% solution of Bordeaux liquid is recommended. Re-processing is carried out at the stage of budding with a 1% solution. And the third after harvesting the entire berry harvest.
The most dangerous insect for raspberries is the raspberry gall midge.
In the fight against it, chemicals are ineffective, therefore, the following preventive work should be carried out:
- Remove affected shoots.
- Collect and burn dried parts of raspberries.
- Observe cultivation techniques:
- correct watering;
- timely feeding;
- correct fit.
Description of the raspberry variety "Apricot"
The “Apricot” raspberry variety belongs to remontant varieties and has excellent taste and high productivity. Mid-season variety. Suitable for growing in warm climates. This yellow-fruited variety was bred by Professor V.V. Kichina and included in the State Register for the Central Region.
Raspberry bushes are medium-sized, semi-sprawling. Shoots of the first year of life are green, with a weakly expressed waxy coating. No pubescence. Leaves are of medium size, green, without pubescence and slight wrinkling. Medium sharp edges of the leaves.

Advantages and disadvantages
The raspberry variety "Apricot" has a number of advantages:
- Unpretentious in care.
- High yield
- Marketable appearance and high taste.
- Universal use.
- Resistant to diseases and pests.

Diseases and pests
The measures are taken the same as for the Atlant variety. See the description above in the article.
Features of growing remontant raspberries
Repaired raspberry varieties are undemanding in care, but in order to get a rich harvest of tasty, fragrant berries, agricultural techniques should be followed. The fact is that if it is wrong to plant and care for raspberries, you will not get a good return from it and the berries will grow tasteless. Therefore, you should take seriously the choice of location, planting and care.
First you need to purchase a healthy seedling. When buying, inspect it carefully and make sure that the root system is intact and not dry. Pay attention to the basal buds. They should also look healthy. Ideally, if there are 5-6 buds on the seedling.
It is not advisable to buy seedlings from random people in the market. Currently, there are many places where you can buy certified seedlings.
Choosing a landing site. The remontant raspberries are especially demanding for planting conditions, so you should take this carefully.
It is better if planting is carried out in the autumn, but if this is not possible, then the planted seedlings will also take root in the spring. Planted plants in spring, at the end of summer, will give you a small harvest.
Unlike ordinary raspberries, remontant, they are planted in a bush method and special planting pits are prepared for it.
For planting, it is better to choose sunny areas without drafts. The soil should be loose and fertile. Wetlands are not suitable for planting raspberries.
Dig a hole 30-35 cm deep and wide. Apply fertilizer in advance. Mix 5 kg of humus, 2 tablespoons of superphosphate and 1 kg of wood ash or chalk with the soil.
The seedling should be shortened to healthy buds before planting. After inspecting the roots, remove the dried and rotten ones. Dip the roots into a clay pile and start planting.
Make a mound in the hole and place a seedling on it. Spread the roots around the mound and cover with fertile soil. Gently press down on the ground around the hemp, if necessary add earth. Leave the hole 5 cm empty for easier watering. After planting, water well. This must be done in two steps so that the soil is well saturated with water.
Raspberries give two crops per season. The first wave of berries on the shoots last year, the second wave on the current ones. Therefore, she needs quality care.
In early spring, after the snow melts, urea should be added. 40 grams are applied per 1 sq. M. After the raspberries bear fruit for the first time, add the urea again. Add superphosphate in autumn.
If the summer is dry, then watering is required. It should be moderate, but with sufficient soil spillage. After watering, mulch the soil. This will reduce the amount of weeding and watering.
In the fall, before freezing, water abundantly to increase the moisture reserves under the bushes for the winter.
Before the onset of frost, cut off the above-ground part of the plants. In the first year, hemp is left 20-40 cm. In the second year, the raspberries are cut at the root. After pruning, hemp should remain. In winter they will be covered with snow. In Siberian growing conditions, it is more expedient to prune raspberries in the spring. Since pruning will provoke the growth of buds, which can freeze out in winter in Siberia.
Reproduction
Repaired raspberries can be propagated using several simple techniques:
- In the center of an adult bush, which is at least 2-3 years old, an insignificant part of the shoots is removed. The offspring will grow, which will serve as an excellent planting material.
- Green cuttings. Selected cuttings (they must be healthy and grow at a shallow depth near the bush) are cut from the mother bush and taken out along with the soil.
Treat the cut site with any disinfectant and plant the cutting in moist, light soil.
After 2 weeks, they should give roots. Transplant to a permanent place, not earlier than a month after rooting.
Repaired raspberries yield an excellent harvest of delicious berries... The varieties "Atlant" and "Apricot" are one of the best representatives of remontant raspberries. The first and second are fruitful and unpretentious varieties. With the right care, you can achieve great results.
