Among the numerous varieties of tomatoes, it was Pink Paradise that took a well-deserved and honorable place. Gardeners fell in love with him for his simplicity in care and an excellent harvest.
Characteristics and description of Pink Paradise tomato variety
This hybrid was bred in 2009 by Japanese breeders for growing in a greenhouse. In 2011, it was named the best variety among pink tomatoes. He refers to tomatoes average aging.
The bush reaches a height of 2 meters and requires mandatory formation. Fruiting period 72-75 days from the moment of planting seedlings in the ground.
The yield according to the description is 4-4.3 kg per 1 sq. meter. Fruits are round, pink in color, medium density pulp, thin but firm skin, sweet taste. Fruit weight 120-220 grams.
They are used mainly for salads, but they can also be canned.
Advantages and disadvantages of the variety
The advantages of Pink Paradise are:
- excellent taste;
- good seed germination;
- unpretentious care;
- high yield;
- good disease resistance;
- excellent presentation;
- long shelf life (up to three weeks);
- good transportability.
Disadvantages:
The disadvantages include:
- mandatory formation of a bush;
- seeds are not harvested, since plants with the same declared characteristics cannot be grown from them;
- tolerates only slight temperature changes. It may die in case of frost;
- it is not recommended to grow in open beds, as there is a high probability of damage by late blight.
Sowing seeds and further care of seedlings
The seeds of this hybrid are highly resistant to diseases, however, for better survival, they should be soaked for 12 hours in a solution of growth stimulants.
Sowing seeds should late February or early March... Prepare the soil before sowing. To do this, mix garden soil, mullein in equal parts and add a little river sand. An oblong box is suitable for sowing seeds.
Before planting, it is recommended to water the soil with a strong manganese solution and warm it up to 15 degrees.
The holes for the seeds are made 1.5 cm deep. After planting, sprinkle them with a thin layer of soil and moisten. The container with seeds is covered with foil or glass to create a greenhouse effect, and taken out into a dark room. The room temperature must not drop below +25 degrees.
After emergence, the glass is removed and the seedlings are placed in a well-lit place. Water them very sparingly. For these purposes, a spray bottle is well suited.
After the appearance of two leaves, the seedlings should plant in separate pots and fertilize solution of fermented mullein, diluted in the following ratio:
- warm water - 7 liters;
- manure - 1 liter.
Immediately after feeding, the seedlings should be watered so that the fertilizer is absorbed faster. The room temperature is reduced to +18 degrees during the day and +16 degrees at night.
It is also important to pay attention to lighting, since its deficiency leads to excessive stretching of seedlings. Seedling pots are gradually turned towards the light from different sides so that the stems do not tilt to one side.
The next step is hardening... In the first days of hardening in the room, the window is opened for several hours. After 2-3 days, containers with seedlings are taken out to the loggia in the daytime. Two days before transplanting into greenhouses, seedlings are left on the loggia for the night.
Growing seedlings in a greenhouse
Planting seedlings in greenhouses in the end of April... The distance between the bushes should be at least 60 centimeters. The transplanted seedling is immediately tied to a support.
After transplanting, the first watering and feeding should be done not earlier than in 7 days... For good growth, you can feed the seedlings with nitrogen, and use potassium-phosphorus fertilizers to form fruits. Re-feeding is applied no earlier than 14 days after the first.
It is recommended to form this variety into one stem in order to increase productivity.
A bush formed into two stems will delay the harvest by two weeks, but in this case, fruiting will be more abundant.
Stepsons and lower leaves should be regularly trim... After pruning, you do not need to water the bush. At the time of flowering, the stems need to be shaken slightly for self-pollination to occur and the fruits to set better.
For watering, shallow grooves can be dug between rows and filled with water. Then the soil will be evenly saturated with moisture.
Watering must be moderate... With a lack of moisture, the fruits will be small and the leaves will dry out. Excess moisture will lead to rotting of the root system. Watering is best done in the early morning, the water should be at room temperature.
Compulsory care procedures are weeding and loosening soil. Weed between the bushes must be removed so that it does not pull nutrients from the soil. Loosening is necessary so that oxygen can better penetrate to the root system.
Diseases and pests
The Pink Paradise variety is resistant to diseases and fungi. But disease prevention will still not be superfluous.
Experienced gardeners are advised to carry out a number of preventive measures:
- Disinfection of soil with a strong solution manganese.
- Seedling processing phytosporin.
- When bugs or slugs appear, pests should be removed and treated with a solution ammonia plant bush.
- Regular destruction of weeds.
Harvesting tomato
Harvested after 110 days from the moment of sowing seeds. The fruits are used fresh for salads, as well as for canning. Due to its excellent taste and good presentation, it is in demand among consumers.
Reviews
Reviews of gardeners about this variety are contradictory. Here are some of them:
Aida, Krasnodar
The variety is very productive, I am satisfied with the taste. I have been growing it for five years now and I believe that this variety has no equal. I grow in an open garden and harvest until frost. I recommend to everyone.
Maria, Kuban
The variety is very moody. There are rot spots on the fruits. Nothing beats the taste of our Kuban tomatoes.
Elena
I grew this variety in 2016. I was very pleased with the taste, appearance and yield. Will grow this variety again.
Despite the fact that this variety has appeared quite recently, it has already gained popularity. If you follow all the recommendations, it is not at all difficult to grow this variety. It is worth trying to please yourself with a good harvest.
