Cabbage Golden Hectar is actively grown in Ukraine and Moldova. Every year the variety is becoming more popular among Russian gardeners due to its characteristics. It became widespread for the possibility of obtaining a friendly early harvest and excellent taste.
Characteristics and general description of the variety
Cabbage Golden Hectar belongs to early maturing varieties. From the moment of seed germination to the technical maturity of the fruit, no more than 110 days pass. The cultivar is cultivated by the seedling method in separate containers or insulated hotbeds and greenhouses. Plants are planted in open ground 50 days after germination.
The variety is distinguished by good seed germination. Plants have a compact, semi-raised rosette. The leaf is small, rounded. Young plants have a light green color with a slight waxy coating. Ripe heads of cabbage have a rounded shape, smooth. The value is average. The density is high. Weight varies from 1.5 to 3 kg. The yield is high.
The yield of products with proper agricultural technology reaches 90%. Up to 8.5 kg of yield is obtained from one square meter, from 1 hectare to 850 centners.
The variety has excellent taste. Well suited for fresh consumption, in salads, for sourdough. To be transported.
Advantages and disadvantages of a golden hectare
Here is a description of the benefits of golden hectare cabbage for which it is becoming more widespread:
- high productivity;
- disease and pest resistance;
- earlier and amicable maturation;
- high taste;
- high content of micro and macro elements.
The Golden Hectar cabbage contains large amounts of potassium, calcium, phosphorus, zinc, iodine, amino acids, vitamins of group B, A, PP, K. The leaves have a high vitamin C content, which makes their consumption healthy.
Of the disadvantages of the variety, not very good indicators of keeping quality are noted, as well as some demanding soil. With general unpretentiousness, the variety reacts negatively to acidic and infertile soil.
Features of germination of seedlings
Cabbage Golden hectare belongs to the early varieties. It is bred by the seedling method. Cabbage seeds germinate well at low temperatures. The optimal conditions for growing seedlings are +18 degrees.
Seeds are sown in the first half of March. For germination, use individual peat pots or special containers. The soil is suitable ready-made for cabbage or cooked yourself. It must first be treated with a disinfecting solution.
Seeds are soaked in a manganese solution before planting. This increases germination and reduces the risk of disease. Until the first shoots appear, the seeds are kept under a film at a temperature of +20 degrees. After the first shoots, the film is removed, and the temperature is reduced to +10 degrees. A week later, young plants are again placed in the heat, trying to withstand the daytime temperature of +17 degrees, the nighttime +9.
Saplings dive at the stage of two mature leaves. Immediately after transplanting, the plants are kept warm, gradually reducing day and night temperatures again. A certain mode allows you to grow strong frost-resistant seedlings.
Before planting in open ground, seedlings are fed in 3 stages.
- stage. The first feeding is carried out 10 days after the dive of the plants. Potash and superphosphate solutions are used.
- stage. Re-feeding is carried out 10 days after the first fertilization. Ammonium nitrate is used.
- stage. The third feeding is necessary 10 days before planting in open ground. A mixture of potash, ammonia and superphosphate fertilizers is used.
Site preparation for breeding
The Golden Hectar variety belongs to the unpretentious types of cabbage. It does not require special soil preparation or site selection. To obtain the maximum yield, gardeners choose a well-lit area for cabbage. Lack of light results in small leaves and poor head formation.
Loamy or light loamy soil is considered optimal for the variety. Cabbage reacts negatively to the increased acidity of the soil.
To increase yields, it is recommended to carry out preliminary preparation of the beds for cabbage. Preparation consists in introducing lime solutions into the soil in the autumn to reduce acidity, as well as adding fertilizers to increase the fertility of the soil. The best predecessors for the Golden Hectare are:
- nightshade (pepper, tomato, potato);
- legumes;
- pumpkin;
- onion.
Landing in open ground and subsequent care
In open ground, seedlings are planted in a state of 4-5 adult leaves. From the moment the first shoots appear before transferring to a permanent place, at least 40 days should pass. The second half of May is considered optimal, when the threat of the last frosts has passed.
Plants are planted in the ground according to the scheme 60 * 60 centimeters. Dense planting leads to a deterioration in the quality of the crop. Deep holes are prepared for seedlings. Plants are placed up to the lower leaves. The soil around the roots is well compacted.
The Zolotoy Hectar variety is unpretentious to care. It requires regular watering as the topsoil dries up. The next day after watering, loosening of the soil is recommended. This procedure allows to knock down the hardened earth crust and improve oxygen penetration to the plant roots.
Cabbage is fed 2-3 times a season. The first stage is recommended to be carried out 15-20 days after landing in the ground, the second in the middle of the season. The third feeding is carried out during the formation of heads of cabbage. Watering of the plants is completely stopped 1-2 weeks before harvesting.
Diseases and pests of the variety
Golden Hectare is a disease and pest resistant variety. It is the least prone to blooming, keel and cracking of ripe fruits.
Of the diseases, one should beware of white rot. It is characterized by the appearance of a putrid plaque on the lower leaves.
Disease of plants occurs in the open field with its increased acidity. With strong night frosts, powdery mildew may appear.
To prevent infection of plants with diseases and pests, it is recommended to carry out preventive spraying. During the formation of heads of cabbage, they are watered from above with water.
Crop storage rules
Harvesting is carried out after the completion of the formation of heads of cabbage. The technical maturity of cabbage occurs 100-110 days after germination. This period falls on the end of July - beginning of August, depending on the time of sowing and planting in open ground.
The ripeness of the fruit is determined by the cessation of the growth of the mass of the heads of cabbage and the yellowing of the upper leaves. A dry sunny day is chosen for collection. Cabbage perfectly tolerates transportation and retains its commercial qualities for a long time. The variety is not suitable for storage during the winter. Its preservation can be extended by hanging the heads of cabbage in nets in dark, cool rooms with dry air.
